I've painted other versions of this scene, but I never tire of revisiting the reference photos I took that late sunny afternoon in northern California. We were staying in Dillon Beach but were on our way to dinner at Nick's Cove, and the way the light played on the back of the Highland cattle was just...exquisite.

As was the entire trip. Thank you, my mate. So many good memories of exploring California the years that we lived there.
